It’s September! I can’t believe the Summer is almost over. Although it’s still warm here in NY, I know the cooler weather is coming and I like to be prepared for what’s to come.
The products I use in my hair won’t change much. I’ll add an additional moisturizer or butter, just to make sure my hair stays moisturized. My hairstyles WILL change though. I’ve worn two strand twists (styled on wet hair) all Summer, and that definitely isn’t my go-to style for the Winter. I generally like to straighten my hair more in the winter because it’ll actually last and won’t frizz.
Most importantly, I’d like to be mentally prepared for the cooler months. For whatever reason, around September/October every year, my hair goes through a period where it sheds. I almost always forget and begin to freak out and wonder what products I need to change. This year, I remembered, so I will know it’s just a part of the process.
Usually the period of shedding is followed by a period of rapid growth. It will be important for me to keep my ends moisturized so they don’t break. That’s the only way I’ll retain as much length as possible during this time period.
I’m REALLY going to miss Summer, but I think I’m ready!
