She Thinx – Period Panties

The following post is probably TMI, so read at your own risk. You’ve been warned!

Ok, truth be told, I almost gagged at the idea of period panties, but I was very intrigued. These period panties by She Thinx claim that they can “back up or replace tampons, cups or even sea sponges, depending on your flow.”

I received a discount for my first order, $10 off, as well as free shipping. The total came up to about $25. A lot for one panty, but if it does what it claims, then it would be well worth it. They arrived pretty fast.

The first pair I ordered were the boyshorts in black, which claim to hold up to one tampon’s worth. Although I would have liked to try out a more absorbent panty (up to 2 tampon’s worth), the cut of the panty didn’t seem like it would meet my needs.

I wore the boyshorts in the night to see how they would feel and if they would leak and they were excellent. No leaks. It felt dry when I woke up, so it definitely does work to wick moisture away from your skin. I’ve worn them on heavy nights and light nights and they were perfect. I’ve also worn them to jog and had no issues with leaking.

I did not try them during the day just because I had to work and it’s something new. I’m sure it would be fine, but in the unlikely even that it wasn’t, I’d really be in a situation.

The directions state to rinse them with water first, then they can be washed and hung to dry. Do not use fabric softener when washing. I washed mine with no problems. I did notice that they take extremely long to air dry. I did put them in the dryer a time or two and it seems to be fine.

I loved the boyshorts so much that I ordered the high waist panties as well. These claim to hold 1.5 tampon’s worth. It does help to have at least 2 pairs to rotate, but 3-4 is probably ideal if you plan to ditch your current method and wear them 24/7. They also offer a 10% discount when you buy 3.

One other thing to note is that they have excellent customer service. I had a coupon code for $10 off that expired, although it had no expiration date. I emailed the company and they responded in a timely manner and also sent me a new coupon code to use.

Pros:

  • They fit well
  • They are extremely absorbent and live up to their claim
  • No leaks, no mess, no worries
  • They’re black so you don’t see anything
  • They work so well, you don’t even know when your period ends
  • Excellent customer service

Cons:

  • They are pricey
  • They take long to air dry

I continue to use them and once I get to test them out during the day, I’ll likely buy more.

They are great as a replacement for your current method or would be great as a backup if you use a menstrual cup or tampon and have issues with leaking.

The thought of them is more gross than the real thing. It’s definitely worth a try.

Thank me later!

XOXO,

  1. I thank you for posting this, because I’ve herd about this company and read on their website but because I have a heavy flow I was scared to purchase. I may have to try them out thanks again for posting

  2. Your right, it do sound gross, but I want to try them. I wonder what an inconvenience it would be to have to keep washing them out during the days of your period.

  3. So my question is if it only holds 1.5 tampons worth of fluid that would mean if you used them as a primary method during your period you would have to change your underwear several times a day???
