Sweet 16 Updo

I went to Florida this past weekend for my little cousins “Sweet 16” birthday party.

Of course I struggled deciding how to style my hair for the party before I even got to Florida! I was going to straighten it because I haven’t straightened it in so long. Truth is, I’m dying to straighten it to trim my ends and see my growth. Good thing my sis talked me out of that though. The humidity and spurts of rain would have killed my straight style.

I decided on my go-to textured bun, but with a textured side swoop. I walked around with a twisted swoop the first day.

I finally untwisted it to style my hair for the party and I absolutely love how it came out!

Hair Growth Cycle

I don’t know the full cycle of my hairs growth pattern, but it usually sheds like crazy in September/October. I guess my hair takes the Fall season literally. If you could see the amount of hair that comes out when I wash my hair, you’d be surprised I still have hair left on my head. It’s craaaaazy! I would never post a pic of that. I don’t want to scare you.

In the Winter, I usually experience a growth season. For whatever reason, my hair LOVES the cold, dry weather.

The Spring and Summer are usually pretty uneventful.

With this knowledge, I plan to straighten my hair within the next week or two and give it a good trim. I’m going to take my Winter, growth season seriously and retain as much length as possible.

I’m toying with the idea of wearing my hair straight for most of the Winter. Gotta love the versatility of natural hair!
