My Goodies

My new hair products came the other day! I’m excited to use them, but my hair is still in two strand twists. They’re holding up quite well. As much as I love styles that last long, I like doing my hair (at times).

I replenished my supply of My Honey Child – Olive You Deep Conditioner. I’ve stated before that it’s great with some additional olive oil, not to mention I absolutely love the smell.

I bought Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Moisturizing Conditioner mainly because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, it had great reviews online as well, and the price was right.

Instead of getting my usual DevaCare/DevaCurl No-Poo, I decided to try the Low-Poo. I figure that a little more suds might be better for me.

Lastly, I got Wen – Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner. I randomly hear people talk about how good this product is. I doubt it’s something I’ll be using regularly, mainly because of the cost and how little comes in the bottle.

So the last time I washed my hair (right before I twisted it), as I was parting my hair to twist it, I noticed some buildup on my scalp. I don’t usually part my hair, so it’s possible that it’s been there before and I just never noticed it. I was thoroughly confused, but I definitely wasn’t going back under the sink.

Have any of you experienced this? What’s that about? How many times do you lather your hair when you wash it?

Texture Changes

When I look at pics of how my hair was when I was younger, I realize that it’s not like that now. People say that once you relax your hair, it’ll never be the same. I don’t really believe that. I think it’s probably moreso due to the fact that hair changes in texture about every 7 years. Most people relax their hair for longer than that, so by the time you see your natural hair again, you’ve either forgotten how it used to be, or your texture has undergone its normal changes.

My hair appeared to be much straighter when I was younger. When I smoothed my hair back, I didn’t have as many deep waves as I do now. My mother REALLY took good care of our hair. Why did she even let us start doing our own hair?! LOL.

I have no memories of what my hair was like when it was wet, which is crazy because I used to wash my hair myself for years before I relaxed it.

My goal is to get my hair back to how it was… this time with a little more length.

I had to dig in the crates for these!
