I remember when my hair was long and trimming wasn’t an issue because I had length to spare. I would trim my hair regularly to keep it healthy and full. I was able to trim any area of my hair myself because it was long enough for me to bring it to the front and see it. That also made is easy to assess whether I needed a trim or not.
Now… not so much! When I straightened my hair last week, I toyed with the idea of trimming it since it was semi-straight. I examined my ends (the parts I could see) and determined that a trim wouldn’t be such a bad idea. After seeing how uneven one side of my hair was, I was really tempted to just even it out. After careful examination, I decided against trimming it because it might not have gone well. I need to come up with a strategy before I take on a project like this! There’s just too much room for error. I don’t even know if I should be trimming it wet/dry, curly/straight, etc.
I knew my relaxed hair so well. I can’t wait until the day I know my natural hair just as well. I must admit, it’s taking a bit longer than I expected.

A Hair Story... 
Ughhh, this is driving me crazy! I wrote on this post earlier, but my comments don’t seem to be posting when I do them from my iPhone. Anyway, I just said that trimming natural hair is definitely a daunting undertaking and, after 11 1/2 years, I still will only do search and destroys! So, it may be one aspect that you are never comfortable with and that’s okay! But, if you do get good at it, you’ll have to tell me your secret!! LOL!
I will DEFINITELY get good at it! I haven’t tried yet, so I may even already be good at it. Lol
I feel the same way about my hair. I am still learning about it and I have been natural for 12 years (yes, I know I don’t give hope). I only found the natural hair community 1 year ago so that was an eye opening experience to me to learn more about my hair. It can become frustrating to me and other times I just roll with the punches and have fun with my hair!
I feel u. I’m actually surprised by how much I’ve discovered despite how much is out there to find out.
