One year ago today, I did the unexpected. I cut off more than half of my hair.
Over the last year, I’ve learned a lot, I’ve tried a million and one new products, I found a few things that work, I found a few things that didn’t work, I’ve missed my relaxed hair, I’ve missed the length of my hair, I’ve discovered the texture of my natural hair, I’ve had ups and downs, but I’m still here… 100% natural.
Today, if even just for a moment, I let it all hang out!
XOXO,
Rece
It’s been a year??? You go girl!!!
I knowwwww. Time flies when you’re having fun! Lol
You should put up a comparison pic from your BC a year ago Rece!! Also, I know you’ve missed the length of your relaxed hair, but are there things that you prefer/love about your natural hair that keep you natural:)?
Yeah, I was going to put a comparison pic, but it was late and I wanted the post to go up while it was still 7.22.12. Maybe in the next post.
I miss my straight hair at times and I miss the length. I love the fullness of my natural hair. I hate that I can’t wear it curly for fear of ssk’s though. It’s like it’s natural but I’m missing the natural experience. =(
I love it, it looks great! Keep it up, you inspired me to finally let go of the weave! I wear my hair out most days, and I am really loving it! A couple times a week I might bun it. I try to not worry about the knots or tangling (surprisingly, I dont have alot of issues with ssks). Thanks for sharing your journey.

Hey Shanreka! I’m glad I could be an inspiration to you. I’ve seen the pics and your hair looks goooooood!
ha ha Rece, you look like a little girl! so cute
it’s funny how we have learned so much in just a year or so. i have found my staple products but every now and then i’m open to trying new things.
I feel the same way. I’ve found what work, but I always feel like I might be missing out on something better if I don’t try new things.
Congrats Rece on your one year hairiversay!!!! Love your fro!
Thanks Miche’al!!!
