Loose Ends

I’m not sure that I decided to do a long transition. It was more like I decided not to do a BC. I love long hair. I’ve always had long hair. I love wearing ponytails and buns. I needed this to still be an option.

I thought it would be a lot getting used to not only a new texture, but a new length. Nope. Too much change for me. I thought that when it grows to the point where I have like an inch or two of relaxed hair left, then I’d cut it.

At this point I’m about 60/40. The natural hair is finally winning. Some areas, like the back of my hair, are more like 85/15. There’s just about an inch or two of relaxed hair left back there. It’s pretty tempting to cut a lot of it off now, but I’ll wait a little longer.

The reason why I created a blog is because the challenge is going to end soon and I don’t know what will happen to my posts about my hair journey when that happens. My blog will allow me to hold onto that. In addition, I’ve encountered some great people along the way and I think we all need each others encouragement and support, so it would be great to stay in contact once the challenge ends.

She thanked me for listening

My hair absolutely loves when I listen to her. She told me when to wash her and I obliged. My hair came out soooo soft  and moisturized after I untwisted my two strand twists (see previous post with pic). I just put a little olive oil in it when I untwisted it and that was it. I’ve been retwisting every night.

I didn’t end up wearing my twist out with my hair down because of the two different textures. When I had less natural hair and more permed hair, it was easier to blend the two textures. At this point, my natural hair swells so much and the permed hair does nothing. I keep asking myself why I permed my hair in the first place. Oh yeah, that’s what I wanted at that time. Lifeless hair. The twistout on my natural hair is soooo luscious, my permed hair… not so much. I can’t wait until it’s all natural.

I’ve just been pulling my twistout back into a side bun. I like the style. The humidity gives me a little more than I bargained for, but such is life. I love my hair.

I’ve been sticking to my regimen and I love the results I’m getting. The only thing I haven’t really been doing is the protective style 3-4 times per week. I do wear a bun everyday, but the way I do my bun, my ends are still out. I do it differently so my bun looks bigger than it is. I hate small buns. I’m going to start tucking my ends in though. I finally figured out how.
