The Culprit is…

I finally found Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I decided to wash and twist my hair last night for two reasons. One being that I wanted to actually have a style for the weekend. The second being that I am going to the dermatologist tomorrow morning and I figured it would be a lot easier for her to examine my hairline and my scalp if the front of my hair wasn’t plastered down with gel. Ok, three reasons… I was also excited to try a twistout with my new product.

I pre-poo’d with Coconut Oil. I’m not sure how long I left it in, but I pretty much cooked dinner while my hair marinated in coconut oil. After that, I followed my usual routine. Wash with DevaCare No Poo, condition with DevaCare One Condition, apply Kinky Curly Knot Today followed by Extra Virgin Olive Oil and twisted it with my new Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I didn’t comb my hair or part it. I just sectioned it to twist it.

Two things I realized… the DevaCare products have some type of orange extract that the DevaCurl products don’t have. Although my hair likes it, my skin does not. I believe that’s what caused my hairline to be so irritated that time. I hadn’t used DevaCare since then (like 2 washes ago) and as soon as I put it on yesterday, I felt my hairline burning. I immediately washed it out. Needless to say, I didn’t deep condition.

The second thing is that some of my ends are straight. Particularly in one area. I’m like 95% sure it’s NOT because I didn’t cut off all of the relaxed hair. To be sure, I keep snipping off a little and it’s still not curling at the end. What’s a girl to do?

This post is getting way too long. I’ll post part two this evening and give you my review of the Kinky Curly Curling Custard as well as pics of the outcome.

Here’s my freshly twisted hair.
