I’ve been meaning to do a length check, but the time I washed my hair and actually stopped to take pics of the length, I realized I took pics of the wrong side. In order to keep things relatively equal, I’ll take pics of the correct side when I wash my hair again.
I pre-poo’d with my Vatika oil on Friday evening. I wrapped my hair in saran wrap and a scarf and let it marinate overnight. I’ve been pre-pooing for a while now and honestly, I still don’t feel a difference. I’ve tried different oils and everything. Maybe the difference is minimal.
Earlier in the week, I noticed that my scalp was itchy and flaky. I twisted my hair for the night and noticed all of the flakes on my clothes and around the sink. I haven’t had flaky scalp in forever (with the exception of my hairline, which has completely cleared up). I was wondering what product I used that might have caused this. I remembered that I used the KimmayTube leave in on dry hair for a few days prior to twisting it. In addition, I had used the Vatika oil the night before. It’s hard to tell which one might have caused it.
…and speaking of flaky scalp, my sister used Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue in her hair and it came out so nice. Her curls were extremely defined for a wash and go, although it felt a lot drier than it needed to be. She was pleased with her curls (I was probably more excited about them), until she discovered flakes on her clothes the very next day. That warranted an immediate washing session. She said it was so bad that she almost created a blog to write about it. She told me to tell all of my blog friends not to use it. Consider yourself warned.
XOXO,

I’m new to pre-pooing too but i think it’s really just to prep and protect your hair from shampoo as well as making detangling easier.
I did a prepoo with some oils but i need to get some Vatika.
…but if we’re no-pooing, then why do we need to pre poo?
LOL Rece, so true. I notice that when I pre-poo my hair is easier to manage. I finger detangle during the pre-poo process which in turn allows for a much easier combing later on.
I didn’t pre poo (by accident) this past weekend. I’m going to write about it.
Hahahaha! I think the miss jessies flakes up because I didn’t leave it alone. I attempted to braid it so that it wouldn’t be flat the next day. If anyone uses it they cannot manage their hair at all. Put a satin bonnet on and leave it….this may work for some but if youre trying to protect your ends by twisting or braiding at night then just leaving it may not be an option. I’m gonna try it again and see
Yeah, braiding wasn’t the best idea. Your hair was curly and defined, but it felt too dry. Maybe you can mix it with a light oil the next time… like olive oil (my fav).
I used Miss Jessie’s a few years back. I didn’t have the problem with flakes … but after a while, I realized that my hair felt good and moisturized when I applied it, but it was starting to feel bad when naked. It only felt healthy with the product in it. So, I stopped using it because I felt like it was not good for the health of my hair.
I tried it once and it was tragic. I was so glad I bought the little trial size jar.
